Two Tankas For Fall

dashing wind brings chill
piercing walls of my bedroom
astounding my soul
basking in september sun
fall arrives at my doorsteps
as dusk suddenly
rips the inky sky with gold
a late monsoon breeze
hurries its march and turns cold
making loose leaves sprint in drifts

What is a Tanka?

A Tanka is a Japanese form of poetry. It has five lines and thirty-one syllables in 5/7/5/7/7 format, giving a complete picture of an event or mood. This is my first time writing Tankas.

Let me try

Let me try to fill this empty page as it stares me blankly in the face. Let me try to write a letter; a word; a small sentence: Starting of a new world. Like a painting’s first line, like a small spark: a starting of fire, like a birth of seedling: a starting of forest. Let me try to empty my mind of all the shit that is lying around in abundance. Let me try to get it together, maybe to give it a shape to contain it. Let me try to fill this empty page as it stares me blankly in the face.
