Sailing In Ecstasy

when I behold her
sailing in ecstasy

beneath the blue shifting sky
upon the blue shifting sea /
atop the gold shifting sand
below the gold shifting sun

I wonder
what secrets she hold?
behind her face /
a sail; speck of white
so fair and pale.

what pleasures her most?
what treasures she hold?
what places she travelled?
what mysteries she unravelled?

don’t you?

    1. Thank you, Dwight. I’m very glad you pointed that out, When I wrote that poem I had an image of a woman bathing in sun and lying in the beach, in mind! I love that you think it’s about a woman of the night 🙂

  1. Oh, this is absolutely fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem. It’s magical and fascinating how you delve into that intrinsic wonder and curiosity. I would wonder the same as well. Amazing writing, as always. ❤

  2. Jay, I loved reading this poem. You go beyond merely observing and describing the ship’s attributes, asking questions that carry you, and your readers on adventures of imagination. It is this ability to ask questions that brings pleasure to observation, to reading the poem, and maybe to going on a journey or doing research to find answers. This is the mindset that leads to discoveries. Great poem!

    All the best! Cheryl
