…So I Write

Nostalgia
tainted
with sooty thoughts.

Not in control
of myself
I write

with pain
smudging
colorful memories
painting them black.

Love and light
are lost.

All that’s left
are regrets
that pinch

so badly
I get through

my days
turn slowly
into sleepless nights.

When I was little

My mum told me
that if I should see
a helicopter seed
I must make a wish on it
and it’ll come true.

Now I am older
and I know
that you reap
sweet fruits
if you sow
your seeds with
your mothers’ wisdom.

The fuck am I gonna do?

Just let go, enjoy
the tune, play
tennis in your room.

The unknown
light that you’re afraid of
seeking
will begin
to seep in
through the glass wall

and when that happens,
just cock back and break
that glass wall
with your courageous
balls.

Inspired by my poet-blogger and penfriend– Cindy from Unique Times Her posts and conversations are full of wisdom. A particular advice of hers which prompted me to write this poem is: ‘Just let go and enjoy the tune

Poem: A Spring Rain

There is no friend as loyal as a book.

Ernest Hemingway
Rain came down
so swiftly
it blew a bird away.
Anyways, afterwards it was calm.
No trees swayed.
I was sitting in the doorway
reading Hemingway
when I saw
down the muddy alleyway
a finicky runaway cat
disgusted by spring rain
coming my way.

A Love Quadrille

At peace with dark
I play solitude solitaire
Till Sun appears in horizon
The Sun is in her eyes and
She has kept me waiting too long

When I watch her come
her blue eyes
viciously bright
deep blue day
I run away

Minutes to Night Curfew

In the fading city bustle;
Dusk deepens towards dark;
The heart shaped leaves rustle,
Crore crickets chirping;
Turning leaves into megaphones;
In yellow summer evening,
Standing middle of the road;
The old Peepal Tree fixed in time;
Sings its sacred fables,
I listen transfixed.

In my city, the seven’o clock curfew has been in effect since two days after a sudden surge in the number of patients, I forgot all about the curfew this evening as I was walking past this old Peepal tree, I sat beside it for sometime, listening. I clicked a photo from my mobile and on the screen I noticed it was quarter to 7, I headed towards home at a run to beat the curfew, all the while I could hear police sirens and curfew announcements on megaphones. I hope all this will come to an end soon and things will change for the better.

Magic door

Danger walking on air
Dangerous atmosphere
Abandoned streets
Burning cities

Tiring times
Leading once more
to the magic door

Magicians, Enchanters
Poets, Painters, Writers and Readers
are lead once more
to the magic door,
A tower of books
A canvas and rainbow,
to solitude
