Magic 9

You're the air I breathe
You're the smile I wear
You're the magic I seek
In my life when it's dull
and future seems bleak
You're my talisman
You're my sunset at sea
My north star, I stare
at when I'm lost and weak.

Familiar Face in the Crowd

Blue skies and white clouds
Familiar face in the crowd

On the banks of a lake
A soft handshake

Winds of summer
I used to love her

April sun on her face
of memory and desire, no trace

Signs of spring aren't fully erased
Her cracked lips, I still want to taste

But a bluebird sings
and she says, "It was just a fling."

Untitled Ghazal

Why was I not born mysterious?

Pablo Neruda’s ‘Book of Questions’
The universe with all her secrets
Cloaked in cosmic darkness, her secrets.

She's full of mystery and magic
On the other hand, I have no secrets.

She talks to me in seasons
Spring lays bare her exciting secrets.

The yellow flower speaks to me
I listen to her tales at sunset, secrets.

She is the dark core of beauty
Between a poet and his poems, secrets.

Tanka #5

Love is flowering
A couple at the garden
Glowing in sunset
Soon the trees will be in bloom
Spring is just a kiss away

The Moon’s dilly dallying

The Moon's dilly dallying
She shows up late
The stars start crying
Clouds soak up their tears
The Sun disappears

The fog makes things dreamy
The brook silently flows
Reflecting the shining Moon
Her glowing face makes lovers swoon.

Untitled

These past few weeks
I'm at a loss for words
Poetry has been distant
You have been distant
I try to keep you close
By writing words on paper
But these days, they hardly come
I hope they are more faithful
And don't leave me forever
Like you did.

Just a Pinch

A bucket full of anger
Corrodes our bond

A mug of guilt
Eats us from inside

A glass of patience
Keeps things cool

A cup of insecurities
Makes us paranoid

And a pinch of love
Keeps us binded
Like father and son should be.

44 words
