Haiku #67

Sweet voice, guitars, drums
Lying with headphones on; eyes closed
I'm only sleeping

~Jay

Linked to W3 poetry prompt where we have to write a haiku or tanka about our favorite way to unwind / relax. On a lazy summer afternoon like today’s, I put on my headphones and listen to some good music, here’s what I was listening to while I composed the haiku–

Spring Memory

Weaving memories on a boat—just me, her, the lake and the setting sun. I sang a song she loved but must’ve said something wrong because I remember her laughing, must’ve been a funny mistake. Her laughter and smiling eyes, my heart skipped a beat.

As we tried to read each other’s lines, her fingers softly brushing on my palm, goosebumps all over. She was a stranger before, now she was a stranger no more.

The train horn blared, she got in, I stood on the platform first, then after listening to my hammering heart I stepped in the train for one last embrace, before she left me forever.

Setting sun blushes
Two young lovers are parting
A spring memory

Miss You

I miss
our long and lovely talks
your long and lovely hair
I miss your--
sweet voice
lost
in your memories
I call your name
everyday
like insane people
like poets
like lovers.

Rhyme Without a Reason

You change with the seasons
But I stay the same, you call it treason
You’ve convinced them, you’re the One
Now all of them call me demon
You think you’ve won, beaten
Me and my followers like the Sun
Are ever present and consistent
We will occupy, uncover your mission
Every opportunity, we will seize and
End you and your seasons.

Trouble

Towering over my head
Raining down on me
Opening old wounds
Unbearable weight
Boulders of broken dreams
Love unmet
Expectations

Summer Sonnet

Summer sun is shining on above me,
I am walking—trying my best to find
What I lost—something pure, a piece of me
I used to keep hidden from people’s eyes.

No one here, not even birds are present
This summer afternoon, the silent park
Complains of the heat and absent children,
I try to listen closely—a dog barks.

Dangling swings moving in the summer wind
Inviting me to swing for little time
Till children come to play in the evening
I sit and the peace, I finally find.

I play with the sand with my hushed, bare feet.
The heat is comforting, the silence’s sweet.

Dear Mirror

I hated you for a long time
All those tiny details you showed
Those reflections and inversions

Perversions of people made me hate
The naked truth you showed
But with time I’ve found—

Love hidden underneath
our bad spots and blemishes
I love you!
